Telar by Nido
The latest endeavor by Argentinian knitwear designer Julieta Racket of Nido, Telar by Nido is a collection of artisan handloom woven textiles. The art of weaving is Argentina’s prevailing handicraft. Traditionally, the loom was used exclusively by women in the southwestern indigenous communities (Mapuche) and by the whole family in the northwest (Tonocoté, Atacama, and Calchaquí communities). Nowadays, various northwestern communities in Argentina continue to practice this traditional and almost forgotten art, maintaining their ancestors’ customs while helping the craft evolve.
