Archive New York

Amira Marion founded Brooklyn based home textile collection Archive New York in 2014. Amira grew up in a home full of Guatemalan textiles collected by her parents during trips there in the 1970s.  The designs of Archive New York reflect this, interpreting Guatemalan traditional motifs and weaving methods. Hunting down antique and increasingly rare fabric samples, illustrations and photos of beautiful handwoven textiles Archive New York then reconnects with the original artisan group associated with each design.

The philosophy behind Archive New York is to honor the integrity of Mayan culture & heritage: carefully preserving each original textile, pattern and design to archive Mayan artisanal craft techniques while committing Fair Trade principles.

Why we Covet: Amira has a way of modernizing the traditional.
